First Film of the candidats and the training team :

June 8th, at Terres en Vues -

TRAINING SESSION IN MONTREAL

Before making their first films, the young filmmakers will receive ten days of training in film production and scriptwriting. Primarily, however, they will be trained in proper film techniques and camera- handling. They will also be introduced to the other teams in the project and a spirit of competition will begin to develop.

For the 2 first week of the training session, the young filmake will make their first film on the theme of "Me and my community".

Each team will be partnered with a professional who will act as a mentor.

Participants will be instructed in the basics of camera-use. We will then assign an editor to each team who will instruct them in the basics of film-editing using the program, Final Cut Pro. By the end of this period, the young filmmakers will have acquired the basic technical skills involved in film production. In turn, each participant will be invited to host an episode of the program and to present the films of the other participating filmmakers.

Once these young filmmakers have completed the filming of their first two films, they will be joined by an instructor who will assist them in the editing process. The instructor will be a professional editor, assuring that the film presented meets the standards of the industry and, at the same time, offering an essential learning opportunity to the participants.

The training team will consist different instructors (professional camerapersons and editors) who work under the direction of Hyacinthe Combary, who created the formula called 72 Heures Chrono. This program teaches the fundamentals of film production and enables the student to create a film in 72 hours. He has, therefore, gained considerable experience and is well-versed in this type of film situation.
